Book: Desire to Inspire

by Jess Greene on 21 December 2011

Creative energy fuels creative energy. Reading Desire to Inspire  by Christine Mason Miller is like spending a weekend listening to 19 amazing women talk about their creative lives. They have given into their desire to inspire you and pour it out like a sweet indulgence. Christine had an all-star cast of creative women as contributors for this book and their words complement her message beautifully. It is fuel for your fire and a kick in the pants all dished out with love and soulful insights.

The message in the book is clear: you can do it. And yet the book goes so far beyond a locker room “go get ‘em” speech. There is the push but it is full of heart and fully acknowledges the twists and turns of the journey. Through stories, exercises, and quotes you are given a good picture of the working lives of Christine and her contributors. The chapters take you from the establishment of a foundation and values, through the building of a dream and finding of mentors, to the broader ideas of belief and community, and end with creating a mission statement. It will leave you feeling ready to go.

There are a lot of books out there on business and art, but one things that makes Desire to Inspire stand out is how Christine choses to highlight the little details of life and declares that the little things are what make the difference. Being nice, extending gratitude, smiling, caring, and passing it forward do matter in business and life. It is messy and very beautiful.

Let these women level with you and blow some wind into your sails.
